All-American Greed

Since the government no longer works for the good
of the people, on the blue field, instead of stars,
there are incomprehensible characters representing
the hostile foreign governments we now court.

The bullet casings represent the NRA, its posturing
leading to the slaughter of innocents and
all beings made less safe.

SOLD does not need an explanation, does it?

Tertullian (early Christian author) quote.

Cloves are the nails that bind us to the many
atrocities committed for all we have become.

You Can ART

Don't think. Thinking is the enemy of creativity. It's self-conscious,
and anything self-conscious is lousy. You can't try to do things.
You simply MUST do things. ~Ray Bradbury

I am amazed when people say to me, "Oh you are so talented. I couldn't make art." Really? How do you know that? Have you tried? Can you play the piano? Did you take lessons? Did you practice?

Consider the following excuses:

I can't draw. You do not have to draw to make art. There are many ways to make marks and work with color while learning the principles of art and design. If you coordinate (or not) your clothing, and manipulate your environment to create pleasing personal space, then you are practicing these principles and making many of the same choices artists do.

Art is expensive, time consuming, and I don't have room to work. Yes, every artist I know has expressed these concerns, but as a beginner, your commitment can be as minimal as a few pencils and paper, working on your lap in front of the tv or sitting at the dining table, and doodling whenever you feel you have time.

Why bother? Art is one of the most freeing activities imaginable. There are no mistakes. How many times do we experience that as adults? Fear of failure usually looms large. "Mistakes" become happy accidents that lead you along a path you did not anticipate, or they can be easily covered with paper or paint.

Find an art class and go to it. You'll be glad you did, because the creative process is a wonder to experience.
